So we all know how annoying it can be when you are in the middle of a game or you are surfing the web and these ads pop up and hinder our user experience. Sometimes they might just be banners and our fingers touch these banners by mistake and the phone transfers us from our app to the respective site or app based on the advertisement.
There is a way one can block these ads on your Android device. Now i2Addicted supports ads. How else do we get revenue or get our name out there? haha. At the same time we understand customers and users and know that these pop up ads on free games and apps can get a little too irritating. The other deal is that these ads sometimes even add malware onto your phone which slows down the speed and prevents you using your phone to full potential.
Before we get started let me issue a warning by saying that, “ROOT” is required to block ads on your phone. This means that your phone has to be rooted. Unfortunately in today’s market there are many varieties of phones with the Android OS. Each phone has a different method of rooting.
A simple answer to that hiccup is:
1. Go to Google
2. Type in <”your phone here”> root guide. Make sure to include your phone and carrier.
3. Follow whatever guides you find to the exact instruction.
Google has recently been removing all adblocking apps from the market, which basically puts people with unrooted phones in a dilemma of what to do to block ads.
There are a few options that we can help you out with:-
1. Go to the “Play Store” and download an app called, “Titanium Backup.” It is the best one out there and most of the American source writers use this app. If you already have the APK (Android Application Package) just back it up directly on your phone, by using titanium backup and copying and pasting the apk file in a folder of your choice. It will usually be found in either your system/app or data/app folder from the root of your internal storage, unless you save apps to the SD card.
2. While option number 1 is great, you won’t be getting anymore updates for the apps. That could be a problem in the long run as it could slow down your phone running outdated apps. The solution to this problem is to download one of the following standalone ad blocking apps either AdAway or AdBlock Plus. My personal choice is AdAway but they are both free in the Play store.
How to install these apps?
1. Download either one of those apps. In Google Chrome, google either one of these apps and add the word “Download” at the end of the search statement. Chrome will download the app onto your computer and then connect your phone to your computer and transfer the app file onto your SD card or phone memory.
2. Go to your settings menu —> Security —-> Unknown Sources and check that box. This will allow you to sideload applications on your phone. Without that checked it won’t work. This is an important step. Without this the remaining steps will not work.
3. On your phone you will have find where the file above is located and open it up from that location.
4. Click on the app and it should take you to an installation screen. Just click through it and it will install.
5. Go into the actual application and make sure it downloads the host sources and turns on the ad blocking.
6. Reboot your phone after you’ve turned on adblocking to ensure everything is working.
And now you’re all set with adblocking. This may not block EVERY ad but it’ll get the job done
